It’s the impact that matters!

On December 6, 2016, Red Propeller received the Business Achievement Award, Employer of the Year from Ontario Job Opportunity Information Network (JOIN) at their 13th annual conference.

Red Propeller has been in operation for only a year, this award comes to us as a pleasant surprise. From the beginning March of Dimes Canada has connected Red Propeller with individuals who were looking for employment.  Our goal has always been to provide long term employment for those with barriers, providing them a positive work experience within our operations.

Red Propeller has a two fold mission; to provide employment to those with barriers and targeting materials currently not part of recycling programs as a way of providing employment. The materials require labour to separate the components to allow recycling.

It is the inherent meaning of work – the dignity of being employable, to feel included in the labour force, to feel valued in the community. The significance of being employed means a lot more than financial gains to our employees. Coming to work at the Red Propeller facility has enriched their work experience, boosted their sense of self-worth.

Red Propeller is new and there is still a lot more to do. The award from JOIN is an encouragement to us: Success is not always measured in numbers; it’s the impact we make that matters. Business is important and so are people.
